What heroes for general use?
Hi all,
i have this question. I want to make work of my heroes. Until now i played just with henchies and friends who helped me. Now i want to have 3 good heoes who help me in missions and vq. First of all i'm a warrior. What heroes should i choose (if needed unlock with rewards). And then what secondary profession for those heroes? And then also what skill template for thouse heroes? Thx in advance. ign : Lord Kipni |

Before I get barbecued, let me state that this is my opinion...we all have them.
Your choice of heroes will vary according to where you are. In basic areas that are not too difficult, an 8-member party should consist of you, 2 monks (healing, protecting, hybrid or a combination of those), a nuker, cursing necro, minion master and your choice for the last two of the eight. You can check with the PvX wiki for more advanced combination of heroes with specialized builds (sabway, discord, heroway, ritway, etc) as you start going into more advanced areas and obtain more skills. |

My basic general team for all characters starting out is a healing monk, an RoJ monk, and a minion master. This seems to work well for general play. The RoJ monk also brings additional hex and condition removal, and can bring a couple of good buffs for a warrior (Judge's Insight and Strength of Honor).
Since Nightfall has a bunch of missions and quests with required heroes, it usually works out well to use Dunkoro as the healer (he is most often required), Tahlkora as the smiter, and Master of Whispers as the MM. That way you already have the required hero in the party most of the time. Replace Tahlkora with Koss, Melonni, Zhed, etc. when necessary for a mission or quest. |

Sookie is so right, we all have opinions (based on exp. or not) about hero builds.
For my warrior(sword) I use the 2 necros from the sabway build, just take a look at the new pvx page. And bring a Rt primary as a spirit spammer with splinter and ancestors rage. The henchmen kinda depends on the mission or area to VQ. |

With a Warrior you'll want skills that can complement and support your build, then heroes that can use these.
I'll tend to take a Channeling/Smite hero (usually Rit/Monk) and an Orders Dervish (or Orders+Curses Ele), then the last spot can be either a N/Rt Healer, N/P Minion Master or Me/Mo Interrupter. You don't mention but I presume this is to use with yourself and henchmen. If you are using it with other people then really being as adaptable as possible is the best thing to aim for. Try unlocking most of the heroes (you get all the useful ones through playing the story anyway) and then getting a variety of skills for each of them. |

I normally run Gwen as a Panic build, Norgu as a Psychic Instability build, and Olias as Aura of the Lich MM + earth area spells + blood rit. So lots of interrupts and lots of minions.
I let the henchies do the healing and add 2 damage dealers. |

I don't trust Henchie healers for the most part. Especially with Aleisa's allergy to life in WiK :P "WHAT'S THAT ALESIA? YOU'VE BEEN ALIVE FOR 3 SEC- onvm" I like to spec my Dunkoro as a ZB/UA prot for missions in NF that mean I have to take him and then put the same build on Tahlkora when necessary. Both are runed/insigniaed up, the only thing I haven't done is get them some decent weapons (should really clear out my collector item stash in storage...). Same deal goes for all of my heroes that are required for campaigns.
Have to say that I loved my BfLA hero combo of Gwen (Panic), Tahlkora (UA prot) and MoW (AotL bomber). I didn't even need to see whether Alesia and Dunham were alive. Knowing Alesia, probably not :P I think the earliest hero combo I ran was SF nuker, MM and generic heal monk. That got me through a lot of stuff. I then started playing around with other builds (you soon realise that SF in EotN isn't that great :P). My honest advice is to unlock all heroes and find a style that suits you. PvX is a good resource but don't be afraid to change some of the builds for your own needs. I like using it as a reference site. |

There are plenty of hero builds that are good. Since you play as warrior, I'd never leave town without an Orders hero to buff your damage. Add in a hero with Strength of Honor to really blow things up. You'll also want splinter weapon in there somewhere. Minions are awesome for soaking up damage, but sometimes they are just not viable (places without fleshy foes).
My suggestion would be to set up a few heroes to fill these roles and try different combinations: Orders dervish or elementalist. Rt/Mo channel/smite support. Rt channel/resto backup heals. N/Mo minion bomber/smite support. E/Mo ether renewal prot infuse for when you need big healing and are not using a minion bomber. http://www.gwpvx.com/Build:E/N_Ether_Renewal_Orders http://www.gwpvx.com/Build:E/Mo_ER_Prot_Hero http://www.gwpvx.com/Build:Rt/any_SoS_Channeling_Rit http://www.gwpvx.com/Build:N/any_Minion_Bomber http://www.gwpvx.com/Build:Me/any_Psychic_Instability If using orders, bring a couple of physical damage henchmen. Beware that most of the henchmen rangers deal fire damage (kindle arrows), so check their builds on the wiki first. |

What you pick depends in my opinion of what class you are playing.
My main is a Necro when I venture out without other players I have pretty much the same party. Heroes The secondary skills change depending where I am or what I am attempting. Warrior any decent Sword build still experimenting Monk fairly old LOD build probably needs changing Necro running a Minion Master build Henchies Earth Elementalist Hammer warrior Second healer Second Ele variations When available I use a Paragon or maybe a dervish. Sometimes I need interrupts more so swap out my hero warrior and add a mesmer. The the henchies need to change adding a second warrior or a dervish and adding an interrupt ranger in those cases I have to take out the second ele and healer. Heroes mostly remain the same henchies change fairly often depending where I am going. |

Do you have all three campaigns? If not, many builds won't be available to you.
My warrior uses Olias - Aura of the Lich build - OAhDUshnSyBVBoBKg2BlB7OXMA Gwen - Psychic Instability - OQNDAowjOhwcgGw0pTGCL/MA Xandra - SoS - OACjEuiMpNMzrZ5saixmcjzhJA The only time I change that (when playing alone) is if I'm in an area with low level healers, then I will swap Xandra for a hero monk. |

I am partial to Zhed, Olias, and Ogden but also may use General Morgahn. But it is just a preference.

My team that I take practically everywhere and is able to C-space most areas even in HM:
N/Rt healer (necromancer that heals effectively and also redirects some damage to the enemy): OAhiYwh8gtJeSzJ3wccWVvYA My version of SoS ritualist (lots of damage over time, also adds enchantment removal and blind): Rt/X OACjAuiKpOXTMW1sce22cRbmJA My protective spirit spammer (all she does is keep the spirits up - and heal a bit when they pop) Excellent way of preventing damage, giving the team time to safely grind down enemies Rt/X OACjAyhDJPYTr3jLcCNdmI3LGA From henchmen, add one healer, and then all the Elementalists and Mesmers that you can find, |

yes everyone has their own 'group' of heroes...I like to use olias as mm, dunky hb, and depending on what I am playing --one of the rits as sos (or if I am doing sos then sosuke nuking).....I usually take a healer henchie as well as a tank (devona is my first choice), then it depends on the chapter---kurzick has a good interupter mesmer so I usually take him, nf I like to bring along the mesmer as well....etc.
so it all depends on your own play style and what you want to do---there is no 'right' grouping.....

I usually use;
- 1 healer hero; Ogden, Dunkoro or Livia (with a N/Rt Resto heal build) - Gwen with a Domination/Inspiration interrupt build (i use Inspiration for better energy/health management for Gwen). - And the best melee hero i have, wich atm seems to be Melonni. I only use Olias as MM or MB when it seems needed. |

k.. Everything depends on the area you're going to be playing. Some areas Melee is useless and therefor minions are not worth it. Or you'll be in an area where enemies have insane aoe damage and minions will again be useless. If you take PI with you the minions are great for Pi bombing... So are spirits.
I tend to take N/rt's and Rits for spirit spamming Take an SoS, with only channeling skills, then a Sig of Strength with only communing skills. The third I usually take either an N/rt healer or a Preservation/minion hybrid. Rit/Nec with some basic minion creation, preservation and other resto spirits, and then the spawning skills Boon of Creation and Spirits Gift. You could replace one of these with Explosive Growth if you felt inclined... Taking Spirit heroes requires a fair bit of micro but the increase in part size due to spirits makes for huge PI damage and a ton of general damage dispersion. I use this with the 2 given monks and the Fire ele and Earth ele in all eotn areas and never have any issues. It's a great standalone build if you are going as a party of 4. I am also a warrior* The other way is to take two Minion masters, both jagged, and have one go with Mark of Pain and Barbs, and the other take Blood Bond and Blood Rit. Then bring a UA healer with a high energy bar. This is also effective anywhere. In all cases when you have the option take a Prot and Heal hench, and two eles or 1 ele and 1 mes. To be honest though, there are tons of possiblities... These are all suggestions that you can get ideas from... I take dual paras and a necro and run discords with a command based para for damage buffing and a motivation para for heal support. Works fine in any area. Fiddle around with heroes, and try to get all of them unlocked so you can experiment with multiple heroes of the same class and combinations of heroes of certain classes. I highly recommend the Ritualist heroes and spirit spamming simply because in PVE they are extremely overpowered. Mesmers atm are very overpowered as well and can be a lot of fun. Try Illusionary Weapon mes and stack up illusion skills for the armor buff. turn a mes into a tank. |

Builds (order of preference is from top to bottom of each category):
Me *Standard DSlash (it's easy and I cbf swapping builds) *100B is good too but I can never be bothered. *Whatever else Hero 1: SoS + Utility *SoS Rit (3 spare slots for either Rit heals, Smites, or Curses) Hero 2: Defensive Midliner *ST Rit *ER Ele *Panic (still figuring this out though; the ST Rit is sufficient so I haven't put much thought into it) *SoGM Rit (if you don't need the extra defence (i.e, Normal Mode and a lot of HM) run this instead) Hero 3: MB/Smiter *MB (3 optional slots for Curses, Smites, or Prots (unnecessary with the ST Rit)) *Smiter (for when there are insufficient corpses for Olias)
